So, you’ve decided to raft the Rogue River. Excellent choice. Now comes the hard part: Do you want to sleep under a roof or under the stars?
The Rogue is rare in that it allows for both styles of trips on the same stretch of river. Here is how to decide which experience fits your group.
The Camping Trip: The Full Nature Immersion
Camping on the Rogue isn’t “roughing it”—it’s “glamping” river-style.
- The Setup: We carry all the gear in support rafts. When you arrive at camp, your tent is already set up waiting for you (or sleep under the open sky on a cot) on a massive, secluded sandy beach.
- The Food: Guides cook incredible meals—steak, ribs, and much more. Vegetarian? No worries, we have you covered.
- The Pros: You are fully immersed in nature 24/7. The starry nights are unbeatable, and the camp camaraderie is special. It is also generally more affordable than lodge trips.
- Best For: Families and anyone who wants to fully disconnect.
The Lodge Trip: Wilderness with Unexpected Amenities
Lodge trips offer the adventure of the day with the comforts of a hotel at night.
- The Setup: You raft downriver, but instead of pulling over at a beach, you pull up to a historic lodge. You get a hot shower, a flush toilet, and a bed.
- The Food: Meals are served in the main lodge, often family-style, prepared by the lodge chefs.
- The Pros: Less packing and unpacking. If you have someone in your group who is “camping-averse,” this is the compromise that gets them on the river. It’s also great for shoulder seasons (May/Sept) when nights are cooler.
- Best For: Couples, multi-generational groups (grandparents love the lodges), and corporate retreats.
Can’t Decide?
Noah’s offers “Camp/Lodge Combo” trips, where you spend either 1 or 2 nights camping and 1 or 2 nights at Paradise Lodge. This gives you a taste of both worlds!
